Tomtex website

In August 2024, Tomtex founder and her web developer approached us for their website project. The scope of work was to develope 3D simulation to showcase their material. The thing was we had to find a solution for website performance. And to allow our 3D simulation to work well with the code. That was a tough challenge for us since for the best quality, physic simulation had to be used. But, basically, physic sims don't work with web coding.

We, especially Duy Tran, played around with a lot of simulation settings to get the right mood. We normally conduct simulation researches at the beginning of the project to see how far we may go with our current technique and computer performance. Trust me, if you don’t know the capability of your hardware before doing any simulation projects, I see you in hell.

Like any other projects, we digged deep into the material exploration stage to get the best look development that we may achieve. Also with material, it is important to draftly setup some of the first stages of lighting for the scene.

Materials exploration stage

We had quite different simulation scenes in this project, while working on the green moss scattering sim, we also worked on another one which was like white moss scattering on another fabric but with white mushrooms.

For the mushrooms, we had to try a lot of model versions to match with their product. How they grow, how they are distributed on the surface, the variation of size were main characteristics that we had to consider.

For us, this project was the first time we have to create physic simulations that should be friendly with web coding. Thanks to my friend, Duy Tran, for his interest on technique research.

Thanks.
