Together with designer @GiangHo at This Is Rice studio, we were assigned to work on Ting Branding project, a smart solution for digital wallet management. I took care of 3D visualization for their products, Ting credit cards and 2D illustration animation.

I started to create some sample renders just to see how the Ting card would look like in 3D (also with some of their branded icons).

Very first look of my Ting work, the purpose of this stage is to create Ting card and their branded icons in 3D environment. Then, I setted up a basic light system to render them out.

After we got the Ting cards, the idea of these 3D visualizations is we would like to see them a little bit Asian look and feel. Then, I tried to experiment a bit with lights and materials setups just to see what would bring us that kind of feeling.

Playing with both sun light and studio lights, combining with some Sub Surface Scattering materials and 3D objects from Megascan Library, I tried to see if this was the one I wanted.

We, together, looked at the color of lights to see if the warm light is better or not. Next days, I liked to put them together, the Ting cards and the scenes I had created.

First look of the combination. I also create some stickers from Ting illustration as a decorated details.

Besides, I also created an animation to showcase Ting branding work for documentation. The first two animations were for their coin icon and their typeface.

Continue with 3D work, I kept trying to experiment more to feel a little bit painting work for this time. Still did not know how they gonna looked like yet.

There was a very challenging scope of work, illustration animation. I had no experience working with 2D character animation since it requires quite a lot knowledge of working with character rigging. Hence, I tried so many ways to fake it.

As always, for self-treatment, to document this project on this portfolio webiste, I would like to try something different with the original work for This Is Rice.
