ACB / MASCOT
Client: Bizeyes
Project: ACB Mascot 3D
Scope of Work: 3D Mascot
3D animation: Tung Dinh - Duy Khanh Tran
I received a brief from one of my friend, Trà, an Art Director from Bizeyes agency which she needed me to build a 3D mascot from her sketch for a pitch. That was a clear request with enough information for executing this job. I then teamed up with a friend of mine, another Duy, who is a 3D modeler for game industry. Normally we just need a short call to discuss the plan to get a job done. That’s how me and my friends run a project. Saying “No" to long unnecessary meetings is the key to save time and energy.

Beautiful brief deck from my friend, Trà (the opening slide was even a gif)
The team was nice to send us a more detail version of the sketch, just for our convenience. I thought the sketch was good enough. However, Duy said that he needed to fix some points in the sketch so that every detail would look more consistent for all sides.

Duy pointed out some detail that he would fix
After just one day, we got back to the team with some screenshots of WIP. Everything was updated daily on our tracking deck. The screenshots helped us to review the model and get quick feedbacks from the team. It was easy for them to check if we were on the right track or not.

Screenshots of clay model for checking
Quite different from the sketch, we also added a glass for this robot’s helmet to break the structure a bit (which made more sense). We were closed to finish the clay modelling stage.

After getting approval on the clay model from the team, we move on with next steps. Duy continued to work on the rigging of the character. I worked on the look development so that we could be able to check both rigging and lookdev with the team.

Updated version with a bit complex movement and enhanced material

Next updated version on look dev
Then we moved further with the goal to enhance and finetune everything for this robot.
Another version that to update with the team our progress
Also, the team would like to explore if we could use branded colors, just to see how it gonna look with future applications.

Just a few adjustment before we were able to close this project. After updating the WIP with the team, we continued to enhance the quality of this work.

Although the team did not make it with their pitch, still, it was a nice and fun project.
Thanks.
