“Curnon Futura” - Final Version
Curnon team came to me on 23rd March 2021 with a brief of making a 3D product animation in Vietnam with the ultimate goal to introduce the first ever Chronograph Watch Collection of Curnon - Futura. This is an ambitious campaign from Curnon to showcase their products by not only photography but also in 3D (to be the first 3D watch video in Vietnam).
“Curnon Futura” - Teaser
The campaign idea is “With the Chronograph function, when you hit the pusher, you will put yourself into a race with your own limitations.”
One of the most painful things of this project is Curnon team paid a lot of attention to details of their watches. Therefore, the project required high quality of 3D models from case, watch face, colorways, texture and so on.
“Pollux Futura” - from clay 3D model to check watch structure to material/texture/lighting applied on clay model to be confirmed before execute the final animation.
Since it was the first time of our collaboration, I started to present Curnon team with my common process from Production Proposal to every stages of making a 3D product animation. First, the watches were recreated in 3D environment following their real models and blueprints then they will be sent in a PDF deck to Curnon team to get their confirmation.
“Vega Futura” - from Offline Stage with story flow and camera angles, we look deeply on how we tell the story via video and how we see it via cameras.
Second, I started to play with materials, textures and some studio light setups then they also will be sent in a PDF deck for Curnon team to confirm. Then we came to the animation of the video which were called Offline stage where we present the story flow, camera angles and foundation of movement.
“Rigel Futura” - to Online Stage where we start to see the final quality of the animation by applying materials, textures, lights and sound effects.
Finally, we went to Online stage where we applied all materials, lights, textures and sound effects to the whole video. There were 5 watch models to showcase in this campaign. For each stage, we had to finish a full set of 5 for Curnon to check, feedback and confirm.
“Hadar Futura” - the key factor to complete this project is to communicate between Curnon and me via each stage in order to create a feeling of working together.
Communication played a key role in this project since Curnon team is in Hanoi and me living in Saigon. Back then, we only communicated by email and Facebook Messenger. We worked closely by various tools like email, PDF deck, Powerpoint, action timeline to present, to gather feedback and to keep us on track.
“Sirius Futura” - PDF deck and Indesign are definitely my ultimate combo to represent my ideas, work in process and feedback gathering.
Thanks.
